We are Manchester based and concentrate on playing ONLY the fast Rio Samba and the latest Samba-Funk grooves as powerfully and as authentically as possible. Some of the top percussionists in Manchester play with us as well as very special guests from Brazil.

Republic of Swing to play Liverpool Samba parade, 2nd August
Click on the image for full flyer & event details Rounding up a hectic schedule of events through July, Republic of Swing are taking part in the Liverpool samba parade - the first Rio style night time event in the UK ever! Held as part of the 'Capital of culture' celebrations, it features a parade around Liverpool centre followed by an outdoor music festival in the independant district. Provisional times are 8:30 - 11:30 in the evening. The event features top samba schools from around the country, along with guests from Europe and Brazil. The event is being co-ordinated by Roger at the Liverpool Samba School, for more news on the event and an update on special guests check here

If you play samba and would like to take part in this event with ROS then please email alex to find out more details - there will be single all day rehearsal for the event at the Zion centre [map] from 11:00 - 6:00 for all those planning to attend - please make every effort to come to this as we will be running through the complete set for the parade.

Notting Hill carnival
Yes, its that time of year again, five members from R-O-S travel to London to play with GRES Paraiso at Notting hill carnival.This year the theme is the celebration of the amazon.
